IN-DISTRICT TRANSFER REQUEST (CHOICE ENROLLMENT)
A parent or guardian who resides in the Gainesville City School District may request to transfer for students enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten through 4th grade to another GCSS elementary school in the school district during the Choice Enrollment Period held during February of each year. 

Families are sent a letter from their current elementary school at the end of January which provides detailed information.

Elementary zone clusters are established in order to improve transportation services. Gainesville City Schools will provide transportation services within the assigned cluster ONLY. The Gainesville City Schools Board of Education reserves the right to establish enrollment limits in all grades, classes, and/or programs. Therefore, there must be spaces available within the established cap amount for each grade level. Priority for classroom space will be provided to all City of Gainesville resident students first.

OUT-OF-DISTRICT APPLICATION INFORMATION (TUITION ENROLLMENT)
Currently enrolled students who move to a new residency address that is outside of the Gainesville City School District and who wish to remain in their current school may apply to be accepted into the Non-Resident Tuition program. The steps are outlined below:

  1.  Please change your address through your Parent Portal account which will notify the school about the change of address.

    You can update your demographic information and upload your documents to the Parent Portal at: https://campus.gcssk12.net/campus/portal/parents/gainesville.jsp

  2. Login to your Parent Portal account
  3. Click on ‘More’ on the left hand side
  4. Click on ‘Student and Household Information’
  5. Click on ‘Click here to go to Existing Student Registration’
  6. Click on ‘Begin Registration’

    Make any necessary changes and upload documents to your child’s application and click submit. Please make sure to contact your child’s school about the changes made.

  7. Complete the Non-resident Tuition Application below and submit to Brenda Robles ([email protected]) at Gainesville City School district office within 5 days of move.
  8. If the Tuition Application is approved, parent/guardian must pay pro-rated tuition and student may remain enrolled at current school

Admission and continued enrollment in the Gainesville City School System is based on the following:

  • Above average grades and standardized test scores, 
  • History of good behavior, 
  • Good attendance fewer than 6 unexcused absences and tardies per year), 
  • Timely payment of tuition following the scheduled payment dates listed above. Failure to remit payment will result in withdrawal of student. 
  • Parent maintains a cooperative partnership with the school and district. 
  • Student can be accommodated by current instructional program services that will meet the educational, physical, and emotional needs of the student within the district’s capacity without placing undue financial burden on the school system. 
  • No student will be admitted or continue enrollment who has had out-of-school suspensions, tribunals, arrests, or criminal records. 
  • Students are subject to suspension, dismissal, or expulsion. The Enrollment Contract may be revoked, and the student dismissed or expelled in accordance with any and all Gainesville City School System policies or regulations. (Policy JBCB) 
  • The Gainesville City Schools Board of Education reserves the right to establish enrollment limits in all grades, classes, and/or programs. Therefore, there must be spaces available within the established cap amount for each grade level. 
  • Priority for classroom space will be provided to all City of Gainesville resident students first. 
  • If, after the tuition contract of agreement has been signed and approved, it is discovered that the information provided by the parent/guardian was not accurate, it is grounds for immediate withdrawal of the student.

1 Child $800.00    Pay in full by 7/1 or 2 installments of $500.00 by 7/1 & 11/1
 2 Children $800.00, $700.00 x 1 = $1500   Pay in full by 7/1 or 2 installments of $850.00 by 7/1 & 11/1
 3 Children $800.00, $700.00 x 2 = $2200  Pay in full by 7/1 or 2 installments of $1200.00 by 7/1 & 11/1
 4 Children $800.00, $700.00 x 3 = $2900  Pay in full by 7/1 or 2 installments of $1550.00 by 7/1 & 11/1
 5 Children $800.00, $700.00 x 4 = $3600  Pay in full by 7/1 or 2 installments of $1900.00 by 7/1 & 11/1
