GHS CTAE Graduation Rate Exceeds State Rate

The Georgia Department of Education recently released that the graduation rate for Georgia students involved in Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) has risen to 97.18 percent in Georgia.  This rate – which applies to students who complete a Career Pathway – exceeds the overall state graduation rate by 13.38 percentage points, underscoring the relevance and effectiveness of CTAE opportunities.  Gainesville High School announced a 100% graduation rate for its students who completed CTAE pathways.

CTAE prepares students for their next step after high school; which involves starting college, beginning a career, registering for apprenticeships, or enrolling in the military. State data shows that 96.4% of the high school graduates who are career pathway completers go on to postsecondary education, advanced training, military service, or employment.

CTAE in Georgia delivers a hands-on learning experience that prepares students for their lives after high school. Students can learn skills for real-world careers in more than 100 Career Pathways while earning recognized industry credentials and participating in work-based learning and apprenticeship opportunities.  Over 60% of GHS students take CTAE classes in fifteen on-site career pathways that teach them to leverage industry knowledge and employability skills to build successful careers. Gainesville High School’s Work-Based Learning team has successfully placed 210 students with over 100 local businesses.

“We are privileged to have tremendous support from passionate K-12 educators, a diverse business community, and post-secondary partners,” said Natalie Smith, GHS CTAE Program Coordinator.  “Our educators have met challenges head on this year by providing many distanced experiences for students through dozens of webinars and professional panel discussions for students to directly interact with professionals in their fields.  Working together, we continue to strengthen our program’s relevance and provide easy to follow transitions for our students into college and career opportunities.”
