GCSS receives GSBA Leading Edge Award

Gainesville City School System received the 2020 Georgia School Boards Association Leading Edge Award at the virtual GSBA Fall Conference in December.  The district was recognized for establishing "The Hub" at Gainesville High School, a centralized student service center that assists in providing resources and services that directly impact students, families, and communities within Gainesville and Hall County.

"The Board and I are honored to be one of the 2020 GSBA Leading Edge Award recipients," said GCSS Superintendent Jeremy Williams. "The collective effort of our team and the numerous community partners, primarily driven by NGHS and the Medical Center Foundation, speaks to the rallying support of Gainesville-Hall County."

The award recognizes innovative and "out of the box" practices by governance teams and school districts around the state and seeks to highlight school districts that are leading the way in ensuring that students are competitive in an ever-changing global environment. Special or unique projects and programs are recognized for having a positive impact on students' achievement and engagement within their school districts.

"The Hub will continue to evolve to meet the needs of the next generation, our youth," said Dr. Williams. "Our Board understands what it means to inspire, nurture, challenge, and prepare everyone. It’s humbling to see others in the state recognize it too."
