According to the Georgia Department of Education, the purposes of the Georgia Student Assessment Program are to measure student achievement of the state mandated curriculum, to identify students failing to achieve mastery of content, to provide teachers with diagnostic information, and to assist school systems in identifying strengths and weaknesses in order to establish priorities in planning educational programs.


As you may be aware, test security has been an important focus across school systems in recent years. The Gainesville City School System is committed to ensuring that all testing is conducted with attention to the highest regard for ethics. As such, all test coordinators and examiners are trained before each testing event on appropriate test administration and security procedures. This training includes instruction on the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s Code of Ethics regarding test administration.
