Gainesville City Schools strives to be a leader in educational technology. Every classroom has at least one computer and every computer installed has filtered Internet access. Each school has at least one 28 station computer lab and Gainesville High School boasts a total of five computer labs for student use. Currently, mobile laptop carts are being employed at several locations which effectively allow every classroom to be a potential computer lab.

Every school is wired internally with fiber optic and/or gigabit Ethernet backbones and 10/100 Ethernet to the desktop. Gainesville City Schools maintains a wide area network connecting all schools together and with the Central Office via 1 gigabit fiber optic lines. Two schools and the Central Office offer 802.11b/g wireless networking throughout the entire building, and all other schools offer pockets of wireless coverage, with building-wide coverage planned for the near future.
