Gainesville City School System hosted its third annual REACH Georgia Signing Day Ceremony on October 15, 2018 at the Gainesville Public Safety Complex. Three Gainesville Middle School scholars along with their parents signed agreements committing to satisfying REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) program requirements. Dayanara Hernandez, Kyundria Jones, and Joella Monzanga pledged to maintain good grades, behavior, and attendance; to graduate from high school, and to attend college as part of the REACH program's criteria. Upon the satisfactory completion of all requirements, these scholars will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship to a Georgia college, university, or technical institution of their choice.
The REACH Georgia program is a needs-based scholarship program that pairs middle school students (Scholars) with mentors, coaches and additional resources to prepare them for college and careers. REACH Scholars who successfully complete the program and graduate from high school earn a $10,000 scholarship paid over four years. The school district commits to providing 35% of the scholarship with the remaining 65% coming from State REACH funds. Individuals or organizations interested in making a tax deductible donation to support our scholars' college access and completion can contact Lynn Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org or 770-536-5275.
Monetary donations to REACH can be made to Gainesville City School System and mailed to GCSS, 508 Oak Street, Gainesville, GA 30501 Attn: Lynn Jones. (When submitting checks, please note
"GCSS REACH Scholars Donation" in the check memo line)
