The September meeting of the Board of Directors was held on September 6, 2006 at Centennial Arts Academy.  The meeting was called to order at 11:30 a.m. by the President, Sheli Jones.

The minutes from the May 2006 Board meeting were read by Susan Leneski.

Treasurer’s Report:  Cooper Embry reported that the audit has been done.  A negative net income is showing due to bills that had to be paid from the previous year (2004-2005).   The PTA Board actually made money.

Bills need to be sent to the school in order for Cooper to make sure they are paid.

Paper needs to be provided for copies that are made for the PTA at Centennial.  Otherwise, the copies need to be made elsewhere especially if you have a lot of copies.

Fun Run:  The deadline to sign up is September 15th.  Tamara reported they are still getting sponsors and are hoping to have the water donated by Publix.

Computer Fundraiser:  Cooper Embry reported that $34.000 was raised last year and the Gainesville City donated another $4,000.   Another $250 has been collected since.  We have a commitment of $10,000 under the condition that we match it.  A committee is going to be formed to start another computer fundraiser.

Sheli Jones explained the new computer lab is accessible to all classes and Success Maker is the software being used, allowing children to work at their own pace in reading and math.

Susan Gilliam reported that all classes should begin using the lab this week.  The software goes up to a 9th grade level.  The monies raised this year will go toward adding at least one new computer per classroom.

The new computer lab will be open for parents at Open House.

T-shirts: Ashley Linville reported that there is a new logo for the girls’ polo shirts.  They are available at The Dress Code, PTA meetings and through order forms that will be sent home soon.

Jaxco (fundraiser):  Elizabeth Embry reported that Tuesday, September 12th will be the kick off for Jaxco.   It will be similar to Cherrydale however, there will be some “higher end” products offered.

Kid’s Cookbook:  Sheli Jones asked for someone willing to chair this committee.

Hospitality:  Tracy Waggoner reported hosting a breakfast during pre-planning.  She is planning on providing snacks for faculty meetings.

Membership:  Faith will have a table set up at Open House next week.  PTA dues are $10.00.

Facilities:  Laura Sumner reported that Service Solutions will be here next week.  Any comments, negative or positive, send to Laura.

Media Center:  Shannon Ball encouraged everyone to participate in the “Birthday Books”.  There will be two parties during the year for all children that participate.

Parent Volunteers:  Julie Burchfield has compiled a list for committees.  There is also a list of parents willing to volunteer in any area if you need more volunteers.  Julie plans to have another sign up form at the next PTA meeting.

Budget:   Cooper Embry reported the Special Project has a zero balance because we do not know what it will be yet.  The Arts in the School did not receive a grant this year so their budget was increased.

Meeting adjourned at 12:00.
