National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist
Gainesville High School senior Adam Jobson was selected as a Semi-finalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Adam represents an elite group of students who demonstrate academic excellence in high school, emerging as strong leaders of the future. The district commends Adam for this outstanding academic achievement, representing the top 1% across the nation.
District Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to the District Teacher of the Year - Amanda Studer. Mrs. Studer is a third grade teacher at Mundy Mill Learning Academy. We are so proud of Mrs. Studer for her dedication and commitment to our students and for her excellent representation of our school system. Also, congratulations to the the teachers of the year per school: Heather Weiser (Centennial), Carolyn Stribling (Enota), Adondra Little (Fair Street), Charity Manomano (Gainesville Exploration), Brianna Caldwell (New Holland), Steven London (Gainesville Middle), and Chandra Karnati (Gainesville High).

SCHOOL NUTRITION EARNS STATE AWARDS
Congratulations to the GCSS School Nutrition Program and staff on earning two Best Practices awards from the Georgia Department of Education. The program was recognized for its utilization of USDA foods in maintaining low meal costs and for implementing effective leadership development and training.
GMS HEROES OF THE HEARD
Mrs. Laverne Duthie and Ms. Maribel Duarte won the Heroes of the Herd Awards for Gainesville Middle School. These outstanding ladies go above and beyond in ensuring that our students are served in whatever areas needed. They are committed to our students, providing resources that enable students to excel both within and outside of the classroom.
Gainesville City School System earned Platinum recognition by state officials at the 2018 Golden Radish Awards ceremony. The Golden Radish Award publicly recognizes Georgia school districts for best practices in farm to school programs, such as local food procurement, exposing students to new foods through taste tests, and incorporating gardening and cooking activities in curriculum. The district's School Nutrition Program received this honorable recognition for its outstanding work in farm to school initiatives.
