Gainesville City School System was awarded the Literacy for Learning, Living, and Leading in Georgia (L4GA) grant for $2.8 million by the Georgia Department of Education to implement initiatives that support literacy within our schools. Special thanks to our team of school and district administrators for their tremendous work and collaboration resulting into the district receiving this substantial monetary award.

Congratulations to Ms. Julia Zhu as the 2018 Chinese STAR Teacher chosen by the Georgia Chinese Language Educators. Ms. Zhu is a Chinese Language teacher at GHS. Also, GHS student Marisa Woo was selected as the 2018 Chinese STAR Student for her academic achievement and her mastery of the Chinese language.

Gainesville City Schools is a Title I District, and as the parent/guardian and family member of a child attending a Title I school you are an important part of the Title I team. Your input is vital in the planning and implementation of the Gainesville City Schools’ parent and family engagement program and activities in our school. The focus of all Title I programs is to help students meet high academic achievement standards expected of all children. Gainesville City School System is proud to announce the new principals for Gainesville Middle and Gainesville High School. Mrs. Misty Freeman has been named as principal of Gainesville Middle School. She has served as interim principal of GMS for the past four months and was Director of College and Career Readiness prior to being named interim. Mr. Jamie Green will begin his new role as principal of Gainesville High School on July 1st. Currently, he is the Dean of Academics at Riverside Military Academy. GCSS congratulates Mrs. Freeman and Mr. Green as the district's top leaders for GMS and GHS.

Gainesville City School System will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the new Enota elementary school scheduled to open for the 2018-2019 school year. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 10:00 a.m. at Enota MI Academy, 1340 East Enota Avenue NE, Gainesville, Georgia. Everyone is invited to attend.
